If you’re looking for the best online MPH programs in Illinois, you’ve come to the right place. In fact, here at Online Master’s in Public Health, we pride ourselves on finding the best public health higher education available online, in person, and under a number of other criteria designed to help you find the best program for your specific needs and interests.
An online MPH is usually part-time, either in a literal sense, or through its flexibility in when students attend classes and complete work (compared to traditional, in person programs). We’ve ranked the best MPH programs in Illinois, first considering the presence of fully or partially online programming, and then a number of other criteria including national rankings, graduation and retention rates, cost of attendance, student feedback, among other considerations.
The result of that work is our stellar ranking of the The 5 Best Public Health Degrees in Illinois. Also, please make sure to check out the rest of our public health degree rankings here.
The schools that made it through our crucible to land on the list were:
- University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
- Northwestern University
- University of Illinois Springfield
- Loyola University Chicago
- University of Illinois at Chicago
An online MPH can be found at two of the schools on the list Loyola University Chicago and the University of Illinois Springfield. The Loyola program comes in two tracks. Students choose between Policy and Management, which can be taken completely online, or the Epidemiology, which comes in a hybrid of online and in-person evening coursework. The UIS program offers a highly touted, comprehensive MPH program, which lets students choose electives in different subsets of the field instead of specializing in just one. There are more traditional, in-person MPH programs available as well, in addition to other degree types and specializations.
Make sure you’re not limiting yourself in your search for a public health degree. An online MPH might fit you best, but there are other options. Let’s say you want to focus your public health study in nutrition, or biostatistics. Here are a few public health rankings that look at degrees with specializations in the field. These rankings were focused on online MPH’s, but also consider other program delivery formats as well:
